'roid week

I missed Polaroid Week on Flickr. I am consoling myself by browsing through the 3,720 polaroids submitted to the group pool. It's a visual feast that inspires me to use Tyson,  my Fujifilm Instax 200, more often.

Coincidentally, Apartment Therapy is also commemorating Polaroid Week by showing you ways of displaying your favorite polaroids.

This is just too cute. 

Like I said, I haven't made much use of Tyson and have only gone through 2 packs of Instax film. The shots I've taken are currently hanging at the back of our front door. But I am making it my mission to take as much polaroids so that I too can have a wall like this someday:

the impossible project is made of pure genius

Together with the hundreds of Polaroid instant camera lovers and enthusiasts, I mourned the company's decision in February 2009 to discontinue making the iconic film. But thanks to Austrian artist and businessman, Florian Kaps, Polaroid enthusiasts have now something to smile about. Kaps heads The Impossible Project which is composed of individuals who aim to re-start the production of film for vintage Polaroid cameras. He has reopened the Polaroid production plant in Amsterdam and began working in manufacturing the film again, together with 11 of the original Polaroid team from the factory floor.

Just last March 25, Kaps and his team's efforts have paid off with the first film becoming available for sale. Meet the new PX monochrome instant film.

This film is compatible with the SX-70 camera. Isn't she a beauty?

I stumbled upon this nifty application that allows you to turn your digital photos to high-resolution Polaroid-like pictures. This brilliant invention is called the Poladroid. Needless to say, I fell in love with it and became a big fan.

So even if Polaroid discontinued Polaroid films last year, the spirit continues on by a simple drag-and-drop of digital photos to the Poladroid app and Voila! Out comes fun Polaroid-lookalikes.
