fancy this

I've missed out on a lot of things going around the web. But I do pop in once in a while and find some things that must be shared.

A beautifully shot film by Kinga Burza for Kate Spade New York.

A wooden quilt from giddygiddy.

Lovely French enameled lockets from Beklina.

brooch bouquet

Last week, I chanced upon Green Wedding Shoes' round up of vintage brooch bouquets.

Now, I am convinced I have to make one for myself for my wedding day. I like the idea of using the brooches again after the wedding!

vintage book ring holder

A nifty DIY project for brides! Perfect for infusing a vintage feel to the wedding. It seems pretty easy. I think I can do this for our wedding.

You can do it too. Here's how.

wine corks under your feet

This is one DIY project that is perfect for wine drinkers.

Stumbled upon this crafty idea from Apartment Therapy, definitely a great way to recycle your wine corks. You just need three things for this project: a shelf liner, hot glue and 175 corks. The step-by-step instruction is available at Craftynest.

I hear this bath mat feels good on bare feet! I'd love to do this one day. 170 corks more to go!

luggage to sit in

I'm on a roll with luggage posts so here's another one for ya!  Spotted this cool idea on Curbly.

Katie Thompson shows you how to think out of the box when recycling luggage thrift store finds. I'm not sure if I can pull this DIY project myself. But I'd love to have one in my home.

Read more about it here.

drawers can be orphans too

I came across this post on Apartment Therapy and thought, "what a cool idea!"

BEHOLD: Repurposed Drawers!

I've seen drawers being sold at flea markets here, and I always wondered why they would sell them separately. This just answered that question and I'm convinced that this is definitely an awesome project for thrift store finds. It allows you to be creative in thinking of ways to re-use these abandoned drawers and what's more,  it's eco-friendly!

ikea hack

Everyone knows I am big fan of Ikea. But now, I'm a bigger fan of Ikea Hacker! Ikea Hacker is a blog that is solely dedicated to bring its viewers ideas of how people have put their own creative twist to items bought from Ikea.

Here are some that I love:

Pinot and Dita's Fabric Wall Art. They cut and pasted Ikea fabric and then outlined them with poster paints. Brilliant!

Martine's Nudie Postage Stamp Lamp. An Ikea Gusle Paper Lantern and lots of postage stamps. Simple and easy!

Angie's George Nelson-Inspired Jewelry Cabinet. The George Nelson Cabinet cost $1400. This one cost a fraction of that!

I'm telling you, Ikea Hacker is a treasure trove of awesome ideas and easy DIY projects. Check it out, do some of the projects and share them!

label it

I've been finding a lot of vintage labels online lately. I recently chanced upon these adorable ones at iDiY.

I want to print each one and frame them to hang in our kitchen wall. I also found these free fillable vintage labels from World Label which you can use to label jars or supplies drawers in the house. It would be perfect for seating cards or table cards in weddings too!

You can find more designs here. Did I mention they're free?

ikea live

It is no secret that I love Ikea. Whenever I am in Kuala Lumpur, I always make it a point to drop by their Ikea store in Damansara and hang out there for a day, looking at furniture and of course, eating at the Ikea cafeteria. Just thinking of the cafeteria makes my mouth water for their Swedish meatballs and Daim cakes!

But I just found another reason to love Ikea: Ikea Family Live. It is a site that provides you tips and inspiration on how fab finds from Ikea can be used in your own home. Here, you'll find how real people have used Ikea stuff in their homes.

 Kitchen envy
Angela from Padovana, Italy shares her very organized kitchen.

A growing wall
Constanca from the UK framed her favorite artworks in these Ikea frames.

 A wall of shelves
I love how Myriam from Switzerland covered a wall with these massive bookshelves.

Have you heard of it? If you haven't, well what are you waiting for? Point your browsers to www.ikeafamilylive.com now!

secondhand chic

Curbly recently released their second issue of the Make It! series entitled Make It! Secondhand Chic. This second issue is filled with ideas on how to spruce up thrift store finds, transforming them into functional and fun one-of-a-kind home decors.

If you have the passion and patience for DIY projects, this one's for you. Order the book or download the pdf version. I know I want one so I can make these:

A filing cabinet kitchen cart!
...which I think I need in our teeny tiny kitchen.

A cork board table!

What can I say? The possibilities are endless!

because I'm still obsessed with our walls

... here's a bunch of ideas you can try if you have the same problem as I do.

DIY Wall Decor
Mai of Ruche did not just give 1 but T-H-R-E-E ideas on how to create wall decor (or just cover a blah looking wall). My favorite of which is the natural peel-able wallpaper. Yup, you read it right. Au naturale! The wallpaper adhesive is made of cornstarch and hot water. You can find the instructions on how to make the wallpaper paste here and here.

And in case you're wondering how to remove the paste stain from the wall, don't worry! I got you covered. Click here to know how to make homemade wallpaper paste remover.

Get Paintin'
No, I'm not talking about just painting the wall with a can of paint. What I meant was take your paintbrush and go Van Gogh on that sh*t! I love this wall makeover by Scott and Cheryl White on Design*Sponge. They made a mural wall using a painting they bought from eBay, color transparency film and a projector. It's genius and I want to do it too!

Slap on Some Paper
If you can't be bothered to paint your walls, cover it with wallpaper. And I'm not talking about your run-off-the-mill wallpaper. Check out these cool prints.

Here's a list of the best online wallpaper sources. I fancy the wallpapers from Nama Rococo, Ferm Living, Cavern Home, and Mod Green Pod.

Take Baby Steps
If you're not ready to cover a whole wall with wallpaper, you can take baby steps with wall stickers or wall decals. I found awesome finds here, here and here. Oh and here.

ze zombiez are coming!
Cool, eh?

chalkboard paint you can make

I've been itching to paint one of the walls in our kitchen with chalkboard paint. Why? I just thought it would be fun to be able to write messages on the wall (and also to paint over that dirty wall in our kitchen). But What if I don't want the usual black or green chalkboard paint? Where do I find chalkboard paint here in Thailand? And HOW am I going to tell the Thai salesperson at the hardware store that I want chalkboard paint?

Luckily, I came across this DIY Chalkboard Paint idea on marthastewart.com. It seems pretty simple. All you need is flat-finish latex paint and powder tile grout (not sanded). Mix it together and paint away!

I love this chalkboard painted wall in the kitchen of Danielle Deboe's home (via Sneak Peek at Design*Sponge).

You can also get a more detailed instruction from this how-to in craftathome.com.

what to do with vintage vinyl record album covers

A couple of years back, I found a bunch of vinyl record albums in the storage room in our house. Not knowing what to do with them then, I gave it to my ex-boyfriend (who's a DJ) to scratch on in his turntables. But after coming across this really cute Vintage Record Wall Art DIY idea from Promise Tangeman at A Beautiful Mess, I now sorta regret giving them away -- especially after coming to a realization that those records were part of my Dad's collection. I should have kept it and turned it into this:

All it takes is 5 simple steps to make this piece of art!
