we scream for charity

Today, D and I are attending Scream for Charity, an event that invites over 250 children from various orphanages and child support centers around Bangkok to have a Halloween fun day packed with educational games and activities, and of course, trick or treating! This is my third year of partaking in the event and a second for D. It's one of the things I look forward to in October. It really is a lot of fun.

This year, I'm going to do a repeat of my witch costume and D will come as that scary masked guy from the Scream movie. I'm excited!

Anyhoo, here are some pics from last year's Scream for Charity.

kate spade pop up

Kate Spade has landed in London! And their pop-up shop is like nothing you've ever seen. It's bursting with bright colors, packed with interesting knickknacks and drool-worthy Kate Spade merchandise, of course!

I love it! See more here.

bass heart rachel antonoff

I caught a glimpse of Rachel Antonoff's Spring 2011 collection via calivintage awhile back. I love how she showed her take on  playful innocence in her Spring 2011 collection.

Rachel also collaborated with Bass footwear, and these lovelies are the result of their brilliant work.

khao yai weekend

Last weekend, D and I, together with two friends, went to Khao Yai to attend Camp Culture, an outdoor musical event featuring DJs playing mostly House, Electronic Pop and Techno music.

We headed out bright and early on Saturday morning to avoid the long weekend traffic and do some sightseeing before the event. We stopped over at Primo Posto and Palio, two places in Khao Yai that make you feel like you're in the Italian countryside.

At Primo Posto del Khao Yai.

At Palio, or as Thais would like to call it, Little Italy.

Not bad for my first trip to Khao Yai. I'm definitely coming back!

boho chic

You know I'm a real sucker for understated, laid back weddings. So it's no surprise I fell head over heels for this bohemian farm wedding I spotted at Once Wed.

Courtney and Taavo's wedding was beautifully captured by Josie Miner. More to love here.

That dress! A Zac Posen masterpiece.

su-shi honey brown

I'm obsessed with this bag. Especially after seeing Alix, aka Cherry Blossom Girl, sporting it around town.

it's in the packaging

Am I the only one in love with the packaging of these hand tools from Klein Tool Co? The tag lines are cleverly funny!

mr. draper

Jon Hamm being his dreamy self. I can't get enough of him, and Mad Men, of course! See more photos of 'Inside Mad Men' by James Minchin III for Rolling Stone here.

taco night

Remember the Mexican feast I mentioned yesterday? Well, here's some proof of our hard work.

The spread!

 Mango salsa and guacamole success!

Yum-o!

I'm not going to kid myself into believing I can take photos of food and make them look yummy. You would just have to believe me when I say it taste good!

Just a quick tip for you guys when handling chilies/peppers: Wear gloves when cutting them! Last weekend, I had to learn it the hard way when I went ahead and cut the Serrano peppers for our homemade salsa. Worst chili burn ever! I had to rub my hands with salt. And when that didn't work, I had to soak my hands in a strong alcoholic beverage - vodka and later moved on to tequila (tequila did the trick, in case you were wondering).

So this time around, D and I made sure we picked up some gloves at the supermarket to handle the peppers.

what a weekend

Bangkok weather has been moody these past few days. We've been experiencing scattered rain showers, leaving the temperature relatively cooler - perfect for sleeping in and cuddling under the sheets. For this weekend, D and I wanted a fair share of sleeping in and enjoying the cool weather while out and about.

Yesterday, we started the day with a hearty brunch at the Wine Connection followed by a meeting with the designer who will make my wedding dress. Then we were off to the mall to find a nice linen suit that D could wear for our wedding. After a haircut for D and a 45-minute facial for me, we were hungry! We had dinner at Tensho Yakitori to end a perfect Saturday.

Earlier today, we did a run to a nearby Carrefour to buy ingredients for a Mexican feast we'll be cooking for dinner. The guacamole and mango salsa we made last weekend was such a hit, we want to do it again tonight. Thanks to the magical world of the internetz, I found excellent recipes from Simply Recipes that were easy to make.

Hope you guys are having a relaxing time. Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

for the camera

Spotted some awesome handmade leather bags and accessories by Fungus Workshop at Black*Eiffel. They make everything from slippers, shoes, cellphone cases to bags of different shapes and sizes. But what I really love are their camera bags and camera leather straps. They're perfect for my toy cameras!

from the guy's closet

I love how Kelly, also known as The Glamourai, borrowed her man's cutoffs to dress-down her chic top. Now if only I can fit into D's clothes...
