french style
I've acquired a newly-found appreciation for anything French. Like this French-style veil. It's so romantic, so lovely.

birthday piñata
Same day next week, I will be turning 28. I'm thinking of throwing a Mexican theme party. And yes, I want a piñata for my birthday. This Ice Cream Cone Piñata would be perfect!
You can make your own! Here's how.

that briefcase
Andy's vintage black leather briefcase keeps haunting me. It's the perfect size (for my netbook). It's vintage. It's so Mad Men. I want it! Therefore, I will make it my mission to find one for myself.

stack 'em up
As the wedding day slowly but surely looms in, I get more and more drawn to anything and everything about weddings. I think I've put much attention on dresses (ethereal, flowy dresses at that!) but recently, wedding bands have consumed me. There are so many designs and styles to choose from. But what has really caught my eye are the slim and simple wedding rings, specifically the ones by Blanca Monros Gomez. Her seed stacking rings are so lovely and I am convinced that I have to have them!

wide-leg comeback
I'm such a big fan of the wide-leg pants that I'm thrilled the fashion gods have declared their comeback. It's just one of the trends that we can look forward to for Spring 2011.

chinatown
My apologies for the intermittent blog posts. As I've mentioned in my last post, work has held me hostage. But yesterday, D came to my rescue and dragged me out of the house. Destination: Chinatown!
It's been quite a while since we last set foot in Chinatown. The last time we trekked down there was to join the Chinese New Year festivities. But yesterday, we went there for the sheer purpose of eating duck...
And while there, we went canvassing for stuff we need for the wedding as well. Chinatown is a treasure trove of awesome finds and great bargains. I was like a kid in a candy store. I wanted it all!
I would have to admit, it's not for the faint of heart. It's hot. It's cramped. It's full of people who are not shy to shove you out of the way to get through the narrow walk path. And you'll be hurled into a world of hurt when it rains whilst navigating your way through the 2 km long shopping labyrinth. It's vicious. So take a lot of patience and tenacity to keep on with you, hold on to your bag, and beware of pickpockets while you're at it.

...and dim sum. Glorious dim sum.

billie goes to my head
I've been busy with work lately, unfortunately sucked into the world of annual reports which is no fun by any means. No sir. But I've been getting a kick out of listening to a lot of Billie Holiday. I also noticed that my productivity goes up a notch while I'm listening to her. Her voice has a way of calming my nerves.
Anyhoo, here's two of my favorite Billie Holiday songs.

2011 calendars are here
Pretty handmade fabric calendars by Lisa Rupp. I like the hot air balloon design.
In other news, I can't believe they're already printing 2011 calendars! I say that with a combination of panic and excitement. Sometimes I fail to wrap my head around the idea that my single days are counted, and in 4 months my name will have a different surname at the end and a Mrs. attached to it. Mrs. B has a good ring to it. I think I can get used to that.

a rad weekend
How was your weekend? Ours was pretty awesome mostly because of an epic birthday celebration for our good friend Russell. Saturday was spent at Taco Lake for some wake boarding, followed by dinner and drinks at our place, and ended with an interesting walk down Khao San Road. Although Sunday was spent mostly in bed recuperating from an eventful Saturday, it was rest we definitely needed.
Psyched for the week ahead! Here's hoping you guys have a good one.

the bride wore pink
Spotted this lovely pink wedding dress at Green Wedding Shoes! I love the ruffles and the over sized flower applique is a nice touch.
I've been contemplating on wearing a colored wedding dress for my wedding. A part of me wants to stick to tradition and the other wants to dare to be different. I'm still on the fence about it but I gotta say, kudos to the brides who made a stand and chose to defy tradition.

chic joggers
I wouldn't really consider joggers as a fashion must-have. But Andy of Style Scrapbook made me think twice. I love her casual yet chic take on styling joggers. And can I just say, those killer boots are rockin'.

a proper kitchen
We don't have a proper kitchen in our apartment. And by proper I mean, a kitchen spacious enough for more than two people to move around in and enough counter space to use. This pretty much sums up a kitchen I would like to have.

for the hippie bride
These vintage wedding dresses are too lovely to pass up. These were spotted at a vintage shop in San Francisco called Magpie. Wouldn't these be perfect for a hippie themed wedding?

I'm digging J Crew's new fall collection. It highlights the androgynous style that I am so into these days.

under the weather
I've been bitten by the flu bug that has been going around lately and so I've been living in my bed for the past few days. I eat, work, watch TV, surf the net all in the comfort of my bed. Thanks to the TLC from my hubby-to-be, I think I'll be fine in a day or two.
Here's hoping you guys are safe. Enjoy the weekend!

remembering koh phangan
It's been a while since D and I have gone away on vacation. I think it's safe to say that we both need one... badly. But for now, I would just have to make do with the memory of that awesome vacation we had in Koh Phangan in April of 2009, where we rented a motorcycle, went beach-hopping, and loaded up on fruit shakes.
I would love to go back.
