chalkboard wall

I'm still obsessed with chalkboard walls! I have yet to paint that wall in our kitchen with chalkboard paint. But I haven't had any time to do so.

One of these days, perhaps.

a penchant for eggplant

Eggplant Salad Toast

I've acquired a taste for eggplant so I've been on the lookout for easy eggplant recipes. I think I hit jackpot when I chanced upon this Eggplant Salad Toast recipe from Smitten Kitchen. So I bought eggplants this past weekend so I can make these toasts. I'm excited to try them. Hopefully, I do it right so D would eat them.

attn: friends that come over

We're having a little get together at home today. Our friends will be arriving any minute now. But I'd like to take this time to thank them, borrowing the words of Leah Dieterich of course.

mismatched plates

Aren't these mismatched plates lovely? I think it's one of the brilliant details in this sweet Oregon wedding. Such a great idea to collect these before the wedding and then use them at home after the wedding!

grill and baguettes

Our 9-month old BBQ grill is turning rusty which made me think of getting a new one. Now I'm contemplating on getting BBQ Bruce. It's perfect for people who do not have the luxury of backyards and will otherwise have to do with balconies... like us!

And while we're on the topic of nifty household stuff, I want one of these hand carved wood baguette boards too. Because, well, we sure love baguettes!

chunks of turquoise

I've always been a fan of natural turquoise in jewelry. So you can just imagine how excited I got when I saw the semi-precious collection of The Vamoose.

How lovely are these? They are handmade, mind you.

lone heart

Such a sweet cake from Bakerella. Speaking of cakes, I can't wait to do some cake tasting for The Day!

sandals for the day

I'm really excited to shop for my wedding sandals. More so than looking for a wedding dress, actually.

I got my eyes on a pair I found at a quaint shop here in Bangkok called Magnifique. I can't wait to get them.

easy like sunday morning

I'm in the midst of a slow and lazy Sunday. There's a good chance that the whole day will be spent watching TV, munching on snacks, surfing the net... all in the comfort of my bed. But you know what? I wouldn't mind being transported here.

This just reminds me how much I need (and want!) a vacation.
Enjoy your Sunday, kids!

cherry blossom wedding

So The Cherry Blossom Girl I've been following finally got married. And her wedding is worth swooning over.

See pictures of her lovely wedding here, here and here.

live in bangkok

Guess who rocked out last night?

And guess who forgot to take a camera... again? Still beating myself up for it. But yes they were awesome! My ears are still ringing and my feet still thumping!

for your sweet tooth

I'm off sweets to prep for The Day. And by prep, I mean drop 10 lbs. It's torture. So I resolve to torture myself even more by pinning pictures and recipes of cakes, cookies and cupcakes that I would love to stuff in my mouth if I wasn't on this no sweets (and chips, and fried food, and fastfood) diet.

Torturous and merciless. I can't wait to get off this diet.

if you want to sing out, sing out

How was your weekend? The weekend started as early as Thursday for us here in Bangkok as we celebrated the Queen's birthday. Thanks to the gloomy weather, D and I opted to stay in and sleep all weekend. We capped off our relaxing weekend by watching the cult classic Harold and Maude. Have you guys seen it? You must!

Maude is just made of pure awesome. I wish I can grab life by the balls like she did when I grow older.

hooked on radiolab

D and I have made it a habit to listen to Radiolab, usually before we go to bed. I don't know why always before bed. I guess it's because we find it to be a relaxing way to end the day. Personally, I find Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich's voices soothing, which is probably the reason why I sometimes find myself dozing off right in the middle of a podcast.

Anyway, for you who haven't heard of Radiolab, it is a radio program that focuses on highly stimulating topics that range from the scientific to the philosophical - like parasites to the after life. I'm telling you, it's so fascinating you'll get hooked in no time (I know I am).

So last night, we listened to the episode on words which makes you contemplate on how it impacts the way we think and feel. And in relation to that captivating episode, flimmakers Will Hoffman and Daniel Mercadante made an equally captivating video.

Pretty awesome, huh?

make your own friendship necklace

Thanks to Macy for sharing this easy and fun DIY friendship necklace. I would love to make some of these. Heck, I used to make friendship bracelets like these growing up!

Love the bright colors!

Want to know how to make these? Here's how.

bored to death at bazaar

The cast of Bored to Death, my new fave show and obsession, recently visited the office of Harper's Bazaar.

Did I mention I find Jason Schwartzman irresistibly cute? But only second to Zach Galifianakis. You can find more pictures here and you can also watch the video of the boys lurking around the Harper's Bazaar office. Go ahead, don't be ashamed to go full-on fangirl mode!

lisa brown pastel perfection

Smitten best describes what I feel about Lisa Brown's Spring Summer 2010-11 collection. It sure captures the airy, flowy quality that always, always draws me in. And the pastel colors make it even more lovely.

More to love here.

inside etsy

With all the awesome stuff that come from Etsy, one would think it's not only overflowing with highly creative people but their workplace has got to be a cool place to work in. True enough, their office did not disappoint.

Now, this is an office I would definitely love to work in.

A ping pong table in the office? Too cool.

I'd love to settle in one of these workstations.

This has got to be my favorite - I am in love with those doors!

Thanks to Lifehacker for the sneak peek. See more of the Etsy office here.

jaw-dropping mini sculptures

When D says "You've got to see this!" and won't stop bugging me about it, there's a pretty good reason why he relentlessly insists on it. He was eager to show me a link that was shared by a friend on Facebook.

And when I saw it, my jaw dropped. What do you say when you see something like this? I mean seriously, how do you begin to describe this?

Uber talented Brazilian born Dalton Gheti meticulously carves the tips of pencils into mind-blowing mini sculptures.

bike in style

I have yet to get my dream bike but I am already obsessing over these nifty, not to mention cute, bicycle accessories from CycleStyle.

An I Love My Bike bell is essential to awesomely declare thy love for thy bike
...and to warn pedestrians as I zoom past them, of course.

Bronze Quilted Double Panniers are essential to fashionably carry my stuff.

These Pink and Red Floral Panniers are also essential for days I want to give the quilted ones a rest and go for a fun print instead.

This rectangular wicker basket is perfect for weekend picnics or a quick trip to the supermarket, don't you think?

I have a feeling this obsession with bike accessories will only escalate when the actual bike arrives. I can't wait!

golden hour

After an afternoon of heavy rain, the skies opened up and lit up with a beautiful glow.

It would be a shame not to capture this moment. Our neighbors from across our balcony seem to think so. They shouted out: "What a great idea!"

Aside from these digital shots, I took out Elvis (my Supersampler) and snapped away. I'm hoping he successfully captured the beautiful orange skies.
